How To Choose School Uniform Fabric That Lasts All Year

School uniform fabric samples

A school uniform has to survive daily wear and frequent washing for a whole academic year. When you specify fabric, three things matter most: how well the dye holds, how the weave behaves in the wash, and how the seams are finished.

Colorfastness. Ask for batch test results for wash and rub fastness so colors do not fade or bleed.

Shrinkage and weave. A dense poly-cotton twill keeps its shape better than a loose weave and resists pilling.

Stitch strength. Reinforced seams at stress points – shoulders, pockets, waistbands – are what stop uniforms failing mid-term.
